So it’s about time we talked about Quidditch, which is obviously a real sport. After consulting many experts, the reality is that the most important position is not the seeker, the keeper, or the chasers; the two beaters on the field are protecting the rest of the team, enabling everyone to feel safe. If this makes no sense, stay with me.
In the second reading for this Sunday, Saint Paul says, “If God is for us, who can be against us?” The Father in heaven is our protector. He never promised that we wouldn’t suffer, but he promised that he would be with us. Even amid our suffering, we can feel safe because God is for us. We live in fear because we don’t truly feel secure, but with the Father, Who is all-knowing, all-loving, and all-powerful, He is for you. This is the greatest gift we can ever be given—safety in the Father’s arms.

Unique and Irrepeatable
Did you know that there are 108 billion people that ever existed? That is a lot. If I wanted to count from zero to 108 billion, that would take me 3,429 years. So it seems like it would be so much easier for God just to name us a generic name. So if God is talking to anyone, he would just say, hello, generic human beings. In the gospel, Jesus calls on Bartimaeus, saying that Bartimaeus is not one among…

What Makes Us Fully Alive
If it has been less than a week since you’ve binge-watched movies or TV shows, raise your hand. Now raise your hand if, afterward, you felt absolutely alive. When we binge-watch TV and movies, we feel less alive. In the Gospel today, Jesus says, “Come to me all who labor and are burdened, “and I will give you rest.” We’re called to go to the Lord…
