Have you ever been at Mass and your eyes glaze over during the Creed? Well, don’t do that anymore. Especially the last part. I believe in the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, resurrection of the body. That is what the gospel is about. Today, Jesus is saying that our bodies will rise just as Jesus’s body rose from the dead. That’s what we will have at the end of time.
You are made in the image and likeness of God. That’s one of the reasons why as Catholics we don’t go around and spread our loved ones ashes all over the place. We keep our bodies intact because they are good and because we will have them at the end of time. You’re made in the image and this of God, your body matters. Love your body. Just as Nacho Libre loves his own body. Maybe a little too much. God is so good and he’s given you such a great gift. This is Spirit Juice. Peace

What Makes Us Fully Alive
If it has been less than a week since you’ve binge-watched movies or TV shows, raise your hand. Now raise your hand if, afterward, you felt absolutely alive. When we binge-watch TV and movies, we feel less alive. In the Gospel today, Jesus says, “Come to me all who labor and are burdened, “and I will give you rest.” We’re called to go to the Lord…

Afraid of Death?
Okay, so have you ever seen a Samoan war chant? One of the most intimidating things you will ever see in your life. The war chant is taunting the other team, taunting the enemy, saying, we’re not afraid of you. There’s nothing about you that makes us scared. We are confident. We are not scared of you at all. This is precisely what St. Paul is doing in the second reading for this Sunday. He is saying directly to death…

Jesus’ Second Coming
Okay, so it is time to build those fallout shelters. It is time to build those panic rooms. It is time to hoard that toilet paper because the world’s end is coming. In all of the readings, this is what Jesus is talking about. He’s talking about the world’s end for Jesus’s second coming. And the fantastic thing is we don’t have to be afraid. Jesus first came in humility, poverty, and weakness, coming in a manger…
