I am in the confessional, ready to go, and there’s got to be at least a hundred college kids around campus right now who are sinners. So I’m hoping for at least a hundred confessions because today is Divine Mercy Sunday. Today is a day when Jesus wants to do is share His merciful heart with us. I invite you to look at the miraculous image of the Divine Mercy. Especially look at His feet and see how one foot is forward as if Jesus is walking towards you. Jesus is not passive. He doesn’t wait around. He is walking towards you. He is always pursuing you. All we have to do is let Him allow Him to love us, come close, and give us His mercy.
And so my invitation today, go to confession. Be made new. Let Jesus win in your heart. Seriously. Go now. Find a priest and go to confession. Now. Do it. Go.

Holy Saturday 2024
This is a little dated, but the “Bourne” trilogy. Jason Bourne, an ex-assassin, runs away and hides from the government. He does everything in his power, training, and skill to hide from the government, and he succeeds. When it comes to being a Christian, we will never succeed at hiding from Jesus. Today, Holy Saturday, what does Jesus do? Before the…

The Right Ambition
Elon Musk, Simone Biles, Dwayne ‘The Rock, Johnson, Mulan, Tony Stark. What do all of these people have in common? Ambition. They have this drive to be great. In the gospel for this Sunday, James and John, the Sons of Thunder, have ambition. All they want to do is sit on Jesus’s right and left and be the most awesome. And the crazy thing is Jesus doesn’t take that away from them. Jesus…

What If
Let’s play the what-if game. In the gospel for the Sunday, what if Peter left Jesus? We wouldn’t have the Eucharist. We wouldn’t have a pope. We wouldn’t have the Catholic Church. We wouldn’t have the sacraments. Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift would never have met. But seriously, Jesus Christ stakes everything, all of salvation, on the mere chance that Peter would say yes and stay with Him. That’s how important…
