Let’s talk about Leslie Knope. If you’ve ever seen “Parks and Rec,” Leslie Knope is the main character, and she is the ultimate perfectionist. She gets after it like crazy. Leslie has built up the whole town of Pawnee, Indiana by herself. Because she is a perfectionist, Leslie has one huge flaw. Whenever she fails, whenever she falls short, she identifies with her failure.
The cure for this is the Gospel for today. John the Baptist says, “The spirit remained with Jesus.” that the Holy Spirit not only desires to remain with Jesus, but the Spirit remains with us. We don’t have to prove anything to God that we don’t have to show him, hey, here’s what I did, now love me. So the cure for perfectionism, don’t prove, don’t do, remain.

I know how she speaks to me. I know what she smells like. I know everything about her. I know it all. In the gospel for this Sunday, Jesus speaks to those who are not prepared, amen. I do not know you. It’s terrifying…

Ash Wednesday
Okay, it’s been a hot minute, but we are back. It is Ash Wednesday, so we may go up to receive ashes today, and we might not know what we’ll get. You might get the classics, the X marks the spot, the perfectionist, the Harry Potter, the NFL, the Picasso, or the Twinsie, or you could get the double wide. Whatever you receive, whatever is…

Be Consistent With Jesus
Maybe or maybe not you have a friend like this, someone who is so good at giving grand gestures, someone who really knows how to show you a good time. But that person then, like, ghosts you for two weeks straight. If we don’t have consistency in a friendship, then it just feels empty. And here is what Jesus is saying in this…
